Bumthang 1999Since 1996, THF has rehabilitated 12 historic residential houses and one monastery, and carried out structural intervention in 18 more historic buildings in Lhasa.

THF has introduced new (but internationally accepted) concepts and techniques of authentic building rehabilitation. The residential communities have become involved in the project, and afterwards moved back into upgraded housing. Restoration of historic buildings, if done correctly, increases the attractiveness of an area and promotes tourism.
