Painter of Woman

Arga worker Early travelers to Tibet write that Tibetan women had comparatively more personal freedom than women in Europe at the time.

Tibetan women's conditions these days are not much different from women's conditions is most other countries. They are the ones doing a great part of the hard and low jobs for very little payment and recognition. At construction level, they are the ones who do the digging and carrying of heavy loads. All over Tibet you can see them working along the roads. THF puts special emphasis on the employment and training of women, providing training in traditional vocations, as well as in nontraditional vocations such as painting, painting restoration and water and sanitation.

THF has actively promoted female staff into positions where they exercise managerial responsibility. The THF field office and salary system are to a large degree managed by women.

Indicator: 50% of the work participants and administrative staff are women.
