The birthday of the Buddha was celebrated in Leh with a huge procession around the town with all its monasteries and shrines. Soon after the day of celebration follow five days of prayer festival and the lunar month ends with the Saka Dawa festival celebrating Buddha's enlightenment and parinirvana, similar to the month of Saka Dawa celebrated in Lhasa.
