Library Inauguration

The library attached to the Central Asian Museum has been re-named the Trans-Himalayan Research Library. Ladakhi scholar Abdul Ghani Sheik has donated his personal book collection to form the core of the library, specialized in academic literature about the Himalayas and Central Asia. The Sikkim Institute of Tibetology has also donated 80kg of books. We hope for more book donations.
On June 9, the library was formally inaugurated by Saleem Beg (Intach J&K) and Executive Councillor Ghulam Abbas Abidin, and is now open to the public. The librarian, Ms Nazia, has been employed by the non-profit Society for the Preservation of Trans-Himalayan Exchange Leh that owns and operates the Central Asian Museum complex. Since then, the Library has also been host to a workshop in cooperation of Architects Sans Frontiers and THF.
