THF's MISSION STATEMENT:

  • to work for the preservation of cultural heritage in general and for preservation of historic Tibetan buildings in particular;
  • to provide opportunities for vocational training, education, international and regional exchange and a healthy environment;
  • to contribute to the development of Tibetan architecture and locally-relevant technical skills in particular;
  • to particularly contribute to the adequate and sustainable development and advancement of Lhasa City and its inhabitants and to support government initiatives sharing THF's aims.

THF is non-political and committed to promote understanding and co-operation between different cultures and nations to benefit world cultural heritage. THF works together with local experts and the relevant Chinese authorities and has been consulted by UNESCO.

The aims of THF being entirely non-profit by nature, THF cannot distribute any parts of funds raised, or profits generated through these funds (including bank interest, sales of publicity material, etc.) to private persons. Any money generated in ways cited above will be added to each respective year's annual budget, and in the final annual account clearly marked as such, and their usage explained and published in our annual reports, and their usage must be entirely coherent with the general and specific aims of THF. In case of dissolution, any remaining funds have to be transferred to other recognised non-profit organisations as specified in the THF statutes, and they can also only be used for non-profit purposes.

THF has constant funding needs to keep up its program of providing training and education for local people involved with Tibetan architecture, and for THF's ongoing programs of restoration, documentation of traditional Tibetan architecture and development of adequate restoration and rehabilitation techniques.
